First year in the house!

So I guess I've been a bit busy to write new posts then. Can't believe it's been over a year since my last blog post.

Currently picking paint shades for the second room to paint, definitely thought we'd have finished more rooms by now but old houses do love to keep you on your toes.

We have removed the lowered faux ceilings and beams, rewired, renovated the living room, (although still waiting for the sofa since April!) completed phase 1 of the garden (actually making it look like a garden by digging out a whole lot of tarmac and putting some grass in) and the cellar conversion has began. It's a big space and has taken over all our spare time, now onto the insulation and installing two sets of bifold doors ourselves! Oooh and how could I forget, added my first bit of gold leaf to this house. A big gold leaf sun round the living room ceiling rose. It's the only good ceiling in the house so really didn't want to damage it by removing the existing ceiling rose, but it was a little plain for my liking - hence the golden sun. So happy with it but my neck really wasn't so happy with me by the time I finished it!

We also had the addition of two pups to the family, Fox and Squirrel. Very happy that they are getting more mature now and aren't trying to eat everything in sight, and I mean everything! They have definitely slowed us down a little but they're pretty amazing boys now.

So, here's a little video round up of our first year in the house, click the picture below to watch:

And a few pics:

Now the cellar is moving forward and the most time consuming bit is done (so naïve!) I am hoping to get more rooms started and finished next year. Making the cellar habitable, getting the front reception room finished, doing a bedroom or two and phase 2 of the garden are next on the list. Will try to post here again soon, maybe a detailed living room post, what we did and how etc, but if there is anything you'd like to see here or any questions you have please get in touch.

As always, thanks for taking the time to read this,

Lara x
